Hello everyone! It has been awhile since my last post. I hope all is well in your creative worlds. Thanks again so much for all the special comments you've given me. I really appreciate each and every encouragement and sweet support. It means so much.
I've been asked a few times from some of you creative lovelies if I've ever been published...the answer to that unfortunately is no, not yet. :) I myself rarely get the opportunity to pick up the latest art magazine. Somerset Studio is a sure favorite and always at the top of the list when it comes down to actually buying one. I enjoy all of their issues as well as their sister magazines. It's always so much fun to ooh and aah while drinking a cup of coffee...okay maybe more than one cup.
After putting it off for so long, and also for recently being asked about being published, last month I decided to pick up the Sept/Oct issue of Somerset Studio The Art of Paper and Mixed Media. There were so many great and talented artists oozing with creativity throughout. I found the submission themes they have in the magazine and gave a quick look to see what the upcoming themes they were requesting. I was so excited to see that it was an Alice in Wonderland Theme for the March/April 2010 issue. The fact that I've had Alice on the brain since the collaboration I did with the hubby, this theme just popped out. I couldn't resist.
So the above picture peek is one of the submissions I sent in to Somerset. It would be an honor to be in their magazine. I'll be crossing my creative fingers and toes. :)
Sweet Bay Area Artist Gloria of http://glorv1.blogspot.com/ recently gave me the "The Deborah Award". Gloria has a fabulous blog where she shares her world of creativity through art, life, gardening and of course her yummy photos of cooking. It's always a treat to visit her. Thanks again so much Gloria! I just love the meaning of this award.
Thanks again everyone for taking the time to visit!
Creative Blessings to you all,
Lisa :)

I saw they wanted submissions a week before they were due, or else I may have considered something...it's my favorite art magazine, and can't wait to see the Alice issue.

betty

I have no doubt you'll be published. I have had some cards published several years ago. I was going to submit something for the Alice in Wonderland theme...but it wasn't done. So I will be looking forward to seeing your work in there. It is top notch, original and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the submission. Your Alice is marvelous.
ReplyDeleteFabulous Submission! Wishing you tons of luck! She certainly deserves to be published, she's wonderful! I didn't get mine sent in, ran out of time. Story of my life lol!

Lovely Alice...I will cross fingers for you, but I have no doubt Somerset will love your work.
ReplyDeleteSomerset(and basically ALL their magazines)is my magazine weakness; I can never pass an issue by and I save each and every one. Good thing I have a huge attic in this house.
Good luck Lisa I would love to see your Alice in a magazine. It looks like a stunning submission! I'd never heard of Summerset Studio until someone mentioned it to me yesterday. I shall have to have a look!! Do you know if it is just an American magazine? Hopefully we can get it in Australia too!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful work as always!!!
Dear Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI´m sure you make it to the magazin. Your Alice is topretty and so are the flowers the whole concep of the painting and the three- dimensionality.

ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! Thanks for visiting my blog. This is so strangely funny...People have asked me about writing as well and to submit something in a nursing/art therapy perspective. Hmmm.... So I am whole heartedly rooting for you! The fact that Somerset (my personal fav!) is asking for what you are already doing with the alice-in-wonder theme, well, that's just planetary alignment, my dear. You are on your way....and I couldn't be more excited for you.
ReplyDeleteLisa, great to see that you went for it!
ReplyDeleteLisa there is no doubt in my mind that they will be completly honoured to have you.
