Must Love to Travel

I'm back from my short and sweet R & R! Hubby and I love to get away whenever possible, even if it's only for a few days. Thought I'd share this piece I created & sold last year called "Traveling Fairies". Using a tin suitcase, which I altered and collaged with decorative papers, stock photos, & prints of vintage girlies made into fairies.

Couldn't forget the luggage tag!

I also collaged the inside of the tin suitcase and packed it with souvenir goodies.

8 Fairy postcards from around the world, which were double-sided ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions & Originals), 2.5" X 3.5" in size. The 8 destinations they visited were Paris, New York, India, China, London, Japan, Cairo, and of course where I live, San Francisco.

I also added 8 matching Fairy magnet stamps.

For our honeymoon, over 4 years ago now, we got the chance to do a Eurotrip! It was a dream come true for me! We were lucky enough to visit Rome, Paris, & London. I'll never forget the wonderful time we had. Hopefully someday we will get a chance to revisit Europe and hit more destinations too!

Obviously, now you know, I Must Love to Travel!

Blessings from San Francisco :)

Halloween Pillow Quilt

This is the time of year when I begin stitching a bit more. As much as I love to paint, I always come back to embroidery & embellishments. The difference of the two for me is in the imagination process. When I paint, especially without collage elements, the blank canvas just comes together from what I imagine and what inspires me. It might be sorta the same for fabric collages, but when you have a visual of all the fabrics and embellishments in front of you, it makes it alot easier for my creativity to flow. It's like a fabric puzzle waiting to be put together!

5.25" X 6.5" on fabric

I used an altered art print of my original painting. Completely hand-stitched and created using fabrics, felts, sequins, beads, & buttons. Also decorated with dangling jingle bells and a fiber hanger.

I call it a pillow quilt because it has been lightly stuffed with polyfil.

Happy Friday & Creative Blessings,

Lisa :)

Hope House Quilt

This is the first of three house quilts that I will be listing this week on ebay. Completely hand-stitched and created using altered art prints of my original angel paintings. A prim quiltie decorated in the Victorian crazy quilt-like style. I've used multiple fabrics, felts, & burlap to complete the piece. Embroidered & embellished with thread, yarn, ribbon, buttons, beads, lace, brads, & sequins. Secured with a blanket stitch along with a rope cord trim. A metal plate with the word hope centers the top of the house and a tiny lock charm & brad doorknob decorates the door.

Approximately 5.25" X 22"

Blessing of Inspiration

When inspiration has passed you by,
May it return with this one sigh,
Creative efforts from now & then,
Mind & Soul shall soar again.

This is a double-sided ACEO & poem I created & sold last year around this time.

Creative Flow

You never know what's waiting just around the riverbend. The creative riverbend, that is. There are days when I am at a creative halt and become really indecisive about my next project. Then there are those fruitful days where the ideas and creations just keep on flowing. I much prefer the latter. :)
