City Girl

Hello my kindred cuties! I wanted to share a commission piece I've been working on. This painting is my "City Girl". The city portrayed is no particular place in general, just from my imagination. This piece is actually far from completion. Since this is a commission piece, I'll still have more personalizing to do on it. Surprisingly, it's a rather larger piece than the norm I usually work with.

It's painted on a 16 x 20 stretched canvas. I know, huge for me, right? Well, let's hope I continue to remedy that this year. I really have enjoyed myself so far. I always get lost in my imagination when I work on a piece this big. It's never a bad thing though. :)

Of course today is also a very special day here on my blog. I want to thank everyone who participated in my 4th year bloGIVErsary! I really appreciate your love and support! With that said, the WINNER is...

Embrace Life

Since I was MIA from my blog last year I wanted to share a painting I created for my dear sister-in-law last November for her b-day. I still can't believe I only created 5 blog posts total...how sad. I'm making up for it now, two posts in one week. Yippeee! You GO girl! Hopefully, I'll keep it up! The title of this post as well as the title of the painting is what I'll continue to do this year. I hope you will too!

Created using acrylic paint, stamps & collage papers

I hand stitched fabric flowers and beads directly onto canvas.

I stamped on a strip of canvas and attached it using tiny brads.

Hello lovelies! January has come and gone and I was completely unaware of it. How did that happen? I hope everyone has been having a wonderful year so far. My imagination is surely adding to my creative to do list. I've been working on a few new paintings and I plan to share and list them for sale soon.

The ornie above is what I created for my 2010 Christmas tree. I always enjoy creating something new to add each year. Painted and created on canvas and secured with a nice blanket stitch. More ornies like these are in the works, too.

Below is something special I created for my dearest friend Paulette aka http://beedeebabee.blogspot.com/.

Created using a paper mache box that I painted and altered with a crackle finish. I like the primitive and grungy feel of it.

In the box, I added a sweet mini album attached together with a binder ring and fiber trims.

Using some of my favorite paintings from 2010, I sized and altered the images and adhered them to chipboard that I layered with decorative paper. Adding sparklies and trinkets with my glue gun. Gotta love that glue gun!

And to complete the gift to Paulette, I also created another ornie for her. For this one I again used an altered painting using fabric, sequins, and tulle.

Completed with a blanket stitch as well and a beaded chain for a hanger.

Hello lovely bloggers! Happy 2011 to you all! I know I've been MIA for way too long, but I hope to get back on track and continue to share my creative journey with you. With that in mind, I do want to apologize for my delayed responses to your comments, emails and inquiries. Life just gets a bit overwhelming during the Happy Holidays. I still can't believe another year has flown by so quickly. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I didn't create.

If I stay away too long from making something, I tend to get withdrawals. Not sure if that's only me. Do you ever get that way?

My artistic journey so far has been filled with meeting so many amazing artists out here in blogland. The on-going support and love you have all given me has been more than I could ask for. I really appreciate it. Thank you all so so so much!

The weather here has been nice and chilly. Just the way I like it. It has even inspired me to get back to my love of stitching. Hopefully, I can share it all with you soon. The difficult thing about having more than one artistic passion is that I get side tracked very easily.

I could be happily stitching away, but when a sketch is calling out for

me to paint her... well, you can guess the answer to that.

I had tons of fun grunging up this painting. Created using mixed media
including collage paper, oil pastels and acrylic paint. Sanded and
distressed for a primitive appearance.

Here is my latest painting.

When I finished her up, I wasn't sure if she was just a

goth girl or maybe even a vamp girl. I'll leave the decision

up to you. Either way, I love the way she turned out.

I added a crocheted flower and brad to decorate her hair.

Here is a before and after. As you can see, I started out wanting
her to be an angel when I sketched her, then I changed it up as I

Halloween Party 2010

Hello and Welcome to my Halloween Party hosted by the talented Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist . This makes my second time participating
in the Spooktacular Extravaganza! Feel free to make yourself nice
and comfy. Enjoy!

The story of Matilda is still quite unknown. Her spirit and
adventures, in my heart, they have grown.

Matilda was born many moons ago, others guessing her

age, a game she loves so. Young beauty before you, you see

in her eyes, she'll tell you her age and you'll be surprised.

At daylight her world is not what it seems, blinded by light,

she lives in her dreams. Enchanted by music, her song has no

bounds, the breeze brings her lyrics, sweet melodic sounds.

She lives in the moment, dancing everyday, a stormy sky above will

not stop her play. A worn out old painting, was hidden around, now

in my hands, since she can't be found.

The cracks in the painting, up close I can see, the age of this painting,

but that cannot be. Until there is more of Matilda's story to be learned,

I'll dance all day long, singing at every turn.

In the midst of my search of Matilda's life at every source, I did

get inspired with some creating... of course!

This is my Halloween Party Giveaway, for all of you to see. I created

my first Halloween mini album out of chipboard. I used a few altered

prints from my original paintings and went to town. This mini is filled

with mixed media including sweet and spooky embellishments.

It's been hot here. I enjoy the weather much more when
it's a little colder. I can surely live with the high winds, the fog
doesn't bother me a bit and rainy days seem to always make me smile.

That's why living in San Francisco has always been perfect for me.
But when we get days like the last few we've had here...
long and very hot... it gets a little difficult for me to function.

Surprisingly, I did manage to finish a new painting.

Like I mentioned on my last post, I was working on

a couple of things, but those had to be put on hold for

a bit. My muse led me to create this one instead.

Hope you guys like her. I plan to list her on ebay

Hello lovely bloggers! I know it's been awhile, so I wanted to
share my creative update with you. I have been taken over by
my muse and let's face it, that's never a bad thing. Besides
everyday life, creating has been keeping me a busy bee.

In honor of Autumn's arrival, here is my "Harvest Angel". She's
holding a cute little pumpkin close to her heart to bless the sweet
event. You can find her now listed in my etsy shop here.

My Harvest Angel was also just added to a sweet Etsy treasury called "Rainy Angel.. Artisans all, Part Deux". You can see the lovely collection here. Thanks again Deb!

I always have multiple paintings in progress when I create.
I just can't help it. My imagination just takes over.

This cutie angel was done on a 5" X 5" X 1.5" canvas
using mixed media including 3D paint.

I love the way this one turned out. The words
"Believe in Yourself" was added using a rub-on transfer
directly onto her halo. You can also find her now in my etsy

Not blogging as often as I would like tends to pile up the

I attached a metal charm that says "Enjoy the Journey",

a little reminder for me is always good.

I attached a ribbon trim to the top of this piece.

And as you may notice, I am all over the place when it comes
to painting my girlies. I enjoy painting different faces along
with different styles all the time. It keeps the creative juices
flowing.

The crackle on this one is very rich with touchable texture.

And the final painting I wanted to share is my "Dream" Angel.
I love the texture on this one. The bluish tones really pop in person,
especially her hair.

Update and Surprise!

Hello my lovely bloggers! I can't believe it's been so long since

I've posted. I just wanted to update you on my art as well as a

little surprise at the end of this post. I did manage to create a
few paintings that kept me busy while I was away.

As you already know, I love using mixed media in most of my art.

These two girlies turned out super cute. They were created on
stretched canvas. The painting on the left is a sweet angel that is
no longer available : ) ... of course as you can see at the top of my
blog, I couldn't resist in making her my new banner. I really enjoyed
creating both of these paintings. The angel was created using layers
of collage papers, acrylic paint and a crackle treatment for her wings.
She also has a tiny leather flower I added to her headband with a brad.

Both paintings were sanded and distressed for the prim appearance
I love. The portrait piece above has an added lace trim as well as
a handmade leather flower centered with a decorative nail. You

spooktacular. Like the angel piece above,
this cutie witch was created on canvas board.

The witch painting is packed with mixed media including
vintage dictionary pages I used as the collage background
as well as to make handmade flowers with too. She is
embellished with metallic paint and adhesive bling.

To keep my creative juices flowing, I've been working on a few

I love the way it turned out. I created it using acrylic paint
along with a crackle treatment on the side. I accessorized
her hair with a flower metal finding that I secured down with
a decorative nail. I also enjoyed embellishing her with rub-on
transfers and self-adhesive bling. Love how it sparkles.

Art Journal Entry

It's been awhile since I played in my art journal.
This page was surely inspired by our visit to the King Tut
exhibition last year at the de Young Museum. The way
everything was displayed was perfect. It really brought me
to another world. So...why so long for the inspiration to kick in?
Well, I was flipping through pages in my journal and saw another
one of those unfinished sketches and I couldn't help myself. I
wanted to experiment with my 3D paints and see if it would
hold well on my pages. It did and the touchable texture it
created is fabulous!

I also wanted an encaustic look without having to warm up
my beeswax, so I added layers of mod podge with a bit of
white paint and went to town with my heat gun. It created
just the primitive look I was going for.

This journal entry is called "Uncaged Heart". I really like
the way it turned out. My art journal is where I enjoy
experimenting and I hope you are inspired to do the same.

This is a mixed media art quilt I recently created.
It was made using an altered vintage image on fabric
that I distressed and frayed. I love the primitive

Whimsical Wednesday

Hello lovely bloggers! I can't believe it's been over two weeks
since my last post. How did that happen? Well...soon after that
post, I got the head cold that refused to go away. The type of
cold where your head feels like it's going to implode when you
cough just a little bit. Ouchie! I am soooo glad to finally be free
of that and also excited to be back here in blogland with all of you
creative cuties. With that in mind, please forgive my tardy responses
to all your special emails and comments. I really appreciate all your
lovely messages and I can't wait to visit all your magical sites and see
what you've been up to.

As for me, I sketched this out sometime last year and totally forgot about it until recently. That is so me. I have tons of sketches just
itching to be painted. I'm definitely glad I found it because I had alot
of fun creating this piece.

Hello creative cuties! I took a little break with posting,
so I wanted to thank you sooooo much for all the birthday
love you sent my way last week. I really appreciate it! I
even received beautiful winged treasures that flew their
precious little hearts to me in the mail. I am so grateful
to have kindred friends like you. Thank you all truly from
the bottom of my heart! :)

Here is the completed WIP from my last post.

It's another mixed media original portrait art quilt painting.
Wow, that's a mouth full, huh? I think that's why I'll continue to
call this a Portrait Art Quilt instead.

I so enjoyed creating this sweet quiltie. She will be for
sale soon. I haven't listed on ebay for quite some time and
if all goes as planned, I will be listing her there tomorrow.

I hope you guys like it!

It's been awhile since I created a card and this is what
I came up with. I really enjoy using mixed media and
it made creating this card even more fun to play with.

If you are a fan of the Twilight Saga like
I am, then this card will make perfect sense
and hopefully make your inner teenage self smile.

I couldn't resist using these adorable stamps from
The Greeting Farm.

I also wanted to spice it up a bit more and made it
into a pop-up card! I love the way it turned out.

You can't really tell from these photos, but I didn't forget
to add glitter on Edward. He needed to sparkle for his Bella,
of course! The little apple cut out completed it all. I couldn't
help from giggling when I added it. Hope you guys like it!

Our collaborative Alice in Wonderland inspired paintings
have been published in Somerset Studio Gallery!
Marc and I are over the moon with excitement to have been
chosen. We both enjoy all the Stampington publications, so
this is totally awesome! Yippie!

Marc and I have only done three collaborative paintings so
far. They are the ones you see on my side bar. We hope to
make many more in the future.

Last November, I ended a Mr. & Mrs. Lectura's next
collaboration painting poll. Just in case you didn't see it...

Hello everyone! Since I've been having fun stitching up a
storm lately, I wanted to share a mini fabric art book I
created awhile back.

It consists of five ACEO (Size: 2.5"x3.5")
double-sided pages, which made ten quilted pages all together.

I used altered vintage photos, fabric, sweet embroidery and
tons of embellishments.

I added eyelets to the corners of the cards and a large
binder ring to hold it all together.

Do you believe?

I also created a couple of pockets to insert mini
fairy tags.

A cute little fairy kitty decorates this page with
enchanting words by William Shakespeare.

I believe in fairies!

Hello lovely bloggers! I've been meaning to post for awhile
now but life sometimes just wont give me the time. For most
of the month I've been diving into some crafty spring
cleaning. I thought it would be quick and simple but boy was
I wrong. Organizing individual things from papers, fabrics,
paints, fibers, embellishments, you name it... wasn't that
bad, but finding the perfect spots to place everything became
my dilemma.

How did my art supplies grow like that? (Mental Note: Must
stay away from craft stores) I had to get more shelving units,
storage bins and trays to make it all happen. Labeling this
and that just to make it all easier for me. It also seems
like we've been moving more furniture around lately than
supplies. I finally have it almost the way I want it but I
know it will still be an on-going work in process.

It doesn't help that my work area keeps getting messy
due to the fact that I can't stop myself from creating as
this cleaning process goes on and on. What's a girl to do?
I know I can't be the only one, right? When your muse
inspires you to paint/create...you just gotta! :)

I recently finished up this mixed media painting on wood.
As you can see, I couldn't stay away from playing with
canvas flowers again too.

I had alot of fun creating touchable textures all around the
canvas. Adding layers upon layers of paint, then sanding and
distressing for the primitive appearance I like. I used
3D paint for the stems. I always enjoy feeling all the textures.

This metal "grow" charm is what inspired the painting in the
first place. And just by chance, it was happening to my
art supplies too.

Playing with Flowers & Gift from Vania!

My adorable niece turned ten years old and she asked me if I
could make her some accessories for her birthday present.

Instantly, I said yes of course and I knew I would have some
fun ahead of me in the process. I've been having such a great
time with felt again lately that I decided to use it for some
of the pieces.

I also had time to create a few extras in the batch that I
plan to put in my etsy shop soon.

Below is a felt flower I added to a fabric headband. I know
purple is one of her favorite colors. Mine too!

Stitching up goodies is always fun & relaxing for me.

I even made some flower pendants using canvas. Now you know I
can't stay away from painting something for very long. :) That's
why I enjoy mixed media so much.

And...Oh My Goodness! I also received my last OWOH gift in
the mail last week. Yay! It's the art doll I won from the fabulous
artist Vania of http://fantasywhispersblog-ooak.blogspot.com/.

Hello Kindred Cuties! Thanks so much for your touching
comments on my last post! I really appreciate all the love
you give me here in blogland. If I haven't already, I'll be
visiting you as soon as possible. I always look forward to
seeing what all my lovely bloggers have been up to. :)

As for me, I've been quite a busy bee. Above are photos of
one my latest projects. It's an art doll in bloom! I've just
listed her as well as some prints from older paintings I've
done in my etsy shop.

Here is another stitched project that I recently finished up too.
I was very honored to "create" this for a special & talented
artist here in blogland. I really enjoyed doing this commission

Creating at night

I can be such a night owl at times. There is something about
creating when everyone in my world is fast asleep. I think it
might be due to the possibility that I should have been born
in another time zone. Who knows? In general, I tend to have
more energy/inspiration at this time, where my imagination has
a mind of its own. So what does one do when they have that
creative urge...

This time I decided to paint. I found some chipboards that have
been laying about for quite some time. I think I only used them
twice since I bought them last year. So I decided to punch some
holes, grab a few binder rings and just have fun.

This is my work in progress so far. It's definitely not going to be
a one nighter project, so we'll have to see how it goes.

Of course, inspiration can hit me anytime of the
day, but the night for me brings so much more
to the imagination. When do you enjoy creating
the most? I'd love to know.

As you may already know, I've been riding on the exciting
magic carpet for One World One Heart 2010. I have so many
super comments from such lovely OWOH passengers that I have
yet to visit. Please bear with me and know that each message

Meet Cupid!

She is the first canvas painting I've done for the new year.

I've been a busy bee with a customized stitching project

My Creative Cowboy

Hello everyone! Thanks again so much for all your sweet
visits! I really appreciate it. Your thoughtful comments
means so much. I'm currently working on a couple of
projects that I hope to share soon.

In the meantime, I wanted to share one of the hubby's
creations he did awhile back. I just love Marc's humorous
style with this piece. It's such a treat to see his
creative versatility and artistic talents grow constantly
right before my very eyes.

This was created using multiple mediums divided on bristol
paper.

Here's a slideshow. Enjoy!

He used oil pastels, ink, colored pencils, gouache &
watercolor.

Marc and I still have another collaboration painting

My creative path so far has been filled with many inspiring
forks in the road. It can be very difficult to maintain
a goal when you're not sure where you are heading. Of course,
that's what makes art more exciting for me!

The one thing that has been consistent on this road is the
support and inspiration I feel in this crafty community. I am
very grateful for all the artistic souls I have met here in
cyberspace. If you are like me, you look forward to what the
new year will bring in your creative adventures. And you also
believe in your heart that this unknown direction will only

Because she FELT like it

Hello Crafty Cuties! Hope all your creative journey's for the new
year have already lifted off to a magical start!

For those of you who don't know, I began sharing and selling
my art in the form of hand-stitched felt works and fabric
art quilts on ebay. I can't believe it's been almost five year's
since then. This creative path is still a growing experience
and I'm enjoying the direction before me. Living in the moment,
being me and just wanting to create.

A couple of months ago, my dear kindred cutie Paulette sent me
a fabulous selection of felt pieces just because. I was
thrilled to open the box filled with colorful and crafty treats!
I knew that I wanted to use these goodies in a special way in
honor of her sweet and thoughtful heart. Thanks so much again
Paulette!

When thinking about what to make, I began to think about what
Paulette does for me all the time, which is inspire me! She's
the best kindred spirit aka artistic cheerleader a girl like
me could have. I wanted to return the sweetness she
shares with me daily and send her some loving inspiration
in return. I knew I wanted to make her something for Christmas
and I wanted it to be special like her. I was creatively
determined, you could say.

Creative determination can hit me at any given
moment. I can be reading a new novel that I've been
wanting to read for so long, and then in an instant, the book
is back on the shelf while I'm already heading for my art
table to create a painted background technique that I just
have to try right away.

I can also be at the grocery store with the hubby, picking up
some much needed essentials, eyes already viewing the
selection of juices before me, then instantly thinking about
my creative to do list supplies. After quickly checking the
time and discussing the inspiration with the hubby, we begin to
rush down the aisles to see if we can still make it to the
craft store (aka My Toys R Us) before it closes. The lucky
part for me is that the hubby is artisticly driven too,
so he enjoys going to the crafty stores as much as I do.

I guess Santa always knows what you want. I can't
wait to use it! :) And I also received a magical one
of a kind ornament with Paulette's adorable hand stitched

embellished and stitched to perfection! SOOOO Adorable!

New Stitched Goodies

Bitten

Over a year ago now, I was bitten by the Twilight Saga. I had read the books only after watching "Twilight" in the theater. I became instantly captured by the love story written by Stephenie Meyer.

I absolutely fell in love with Edward and Bella's story. The hubby surely knew this as well and he surprised me with a couple of the audiobooks last Christmas. Listening to the books this way made their story even more special for me. I sketched Edward on canvas around the same time last year and decided to paint him up just last night in honor of the movie "New Moon" coming out today. I made sure to paint him while I listened to "New Moon" on audiobook to help inspire me even more. You can tell from the photo above that I initially had other plans for how his hair should be.

As for now, Edward is still a work in progress. I also still plan to paint Bella as soon as possible too. You can tell from the photo below that Edward yearns for Bella to complete him as well.

Happy November! Hope you all had a great Halloween! I think I ~~devoured~~ ate too much chocolate, if that's even possible.

Last month I shared one of my submissions for Somerset Studio The Art of Paper and Mixed Media here. This happens to be not only another submission, but also the third collaboration with the hubby, Marc!

Just in case you didn't know, the submission request was for an "Alice in Wonderland Theme" due out in the March/April 2010 issue. And since the much anticipated movie from Tim Burton is also coming out, they asked us to "feel free to interpret Alice through Tim Burton's eyes".

And to finish off our third collaboration idea, we were surely inspired as well by Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa aka La Gioconda, hence was created...
"Alice Lisa".

Giveaway Announcement + Spooky Funhouse Pt. 2

**THE SPOOKY FUNHOUSE PART 2**

Anne and Bridget find themselves getting lost in the spooky corridors just like Celeste and Diana. They all wished they would have arrived to the Spooky Funhouse together.

After what seemed like forever, Anne and Bridget wound up at the beginning of the whole funhouse. They find shy Emma walking alone and within seconds before beginning to cry of fright and loneliness.

"Aah Anne! Bridget! You don't know how glad I am to see you. I was so excited to come here and visit. I was hoping we'd find each other here." They all embraced each other in happiness and decided to start over again, at least again for Anne and Bridget.

They took Emma down the same spooky halls to find the magical art quilts that led them to the room of crafts once again. All three of them were so happy to find Celeste and Diana there making quilts as well. They had found each other. All Kindred Cuties together at last. They waited together while Celeste, Diana and Emma completed their party favor ornies.

The creator did not in fact have to repeat the instructions again because this time around Anne did all the teaching of what she had learned. The creator just gave her a quick wink.

As they were leaving the room of crafts, the creator reminded them once again that their party favors would be at the exit when they left. They all waved goodbye to the lovely creator and went down a corridor that neither groups had walked through.

They began to hear soft music playing on a piano. It sounded like there was someone playing in the actual room with them. They were very thankful that it wasn't creepy music at all. The music began to speed to a more playful sound as they entered a glow in the dark room. All five Kindred Cuties held onto each others hands really tight. They took one step at a time and felt like they were in another world. The music began to get louder and the glow in the dark room began to feel like it was moving.

It was a small room filled with fun mirrors all around.

The Kindred Cuties all giggled together.

They even danced to the music as they walked over to each different mirror.

They loved looking at their funny reflections.

They couldn't stop from laughing out loud!

Emma didn't want to play at first, then did it anyway. Who could resist?

They finally contained themselves as they exited the room. They were greeted with more surprise art quilts on the walls.

Anne opened a door and found a shocking scare...

"Wait...what is that!....It's a MMmmummmY!! RUNNNNN!" Anne yelled as she held onto Diana's hand. All Kindred Cuties began to run and open all doors for possible exits as they passed them.

"It's the Headless Horseman!" Celeste screamed as they ran down another hallway. Emma and Bridget were last but not far behind.

They looked back and realized that they were not being chased by anyone. They were running for nothing.

All Kindred Cuties felt almost out of breathe. They all wanted to find the nearest exit. Turn after turn was another dead end, then a door with an exit sign on it creaked open out of nowhere. All Kindred Cuties looked at it and at each other with quick glances of frightened surprise.

Their fright quickly went away when they opened the door to find a Jack O' Lantern dancing to show the real exit door. They all began to giggle in relief.

As they reached the door the Creator came out of nowhere.

"Don't forget your party favors and your 'Halloween Ornies' print outs", she sweetly said.

All the Kindred Cuties waved goodbye with big smiles.

Hello everyone! Just a quickie. Here is my latest painting, "Kindred Sisters". I had so much fun creating this piece.

A Halloween Swap!

I was so very honored to do a Halloween swap with the sweet & talented Becky of www.beckyshander.com. My goodie from Becky was cleverly wrapped and decorated using lace, a recycled tea-dyed dryer sheet (not shown), twine and a tag.

Our Halloween swap didn't have a specific size request, the only swap request was that we receive it before Halloween, of course. :) Becky sent me an Artist Trading Card (ATC) which is 2.5" X 3.5", just like ACEO's, but traded rather than being sold.

This special ATC was created using a collage of fabric & paper. It sparkles with iridescent glitter all around. A little birdie is perched on the words "trick or treat" next to a spooky tree, and a lovely stitched up border. So cute and definitely a TREAT for me!

I love my Halloween swap, Becky! Thanks so much! Halloween is my favorite! I will cherish it always.

Halloween Party Giveaway!

Hello Halloween Lovers! There is a Small Red Carpet event going on here. Today is a spookfabulous day! Holiday Party Queen & Artist Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist is hosting a Halloween Extravaganza! In honor of her event, I get to participate for the very first time ever. I am so excited to look and see who graces our Spooktacular Red Carpet Event before heading into our Spooky Funhouse.

I also can't wait to visit Vanessa's amazing party post. I'm sure her tribute to this magical holiday will be grand! I just loved loved loved her post from last year. I also can't wait to visit all the other party participants who signed up. I know I will have a blast meeting new friends out there who love Halloween as much as I do.

Not only is this a Halloween party, but it also will be the first time that I get to introduce "Kindred Cuties" to blogland. It is a new series of kindred spirits just like all of us. The original paintings are still intact and will be available for sale at a later time. The following Kindred Cuties visiting here have all been altered with digital enhancement for this Special Halloween Event. I hope you have a Spookfabulous time here! Enjoy!

Meet Freddie, he is the ticket booth operator and Assistant Manager of our Spooky Funhouse. He is all fun and games already, so watch out. Today just happens to be his birthday too. He loves his job and will be his corny self all day, as promised.

I'm starting to notice all you lovely guests entering the funhouse. How exciting!!!

Giving her ticket to enter as I speak...I see Anne dressed up in her Fairy Witch Costume, green hair and all. I've seen Anne Shirley with green hair before and it didn't look this fabulous.

Now I can surely say...

Ooh...Bridget has just arrived right after Anne. She is looking so cute with her purple hair and outfit. She even has a sweet flower accessory attached to her hair too. Still not sure what her costume is yet...maybe a cha-cha dancer from St. Bernadette's? She looks fabulous no matter what!

Anne and Bridget have just entered the main lobby together. I can't wait for all the magical things that they'll see in our Spooky Funhouse. Anne and Bridget seem to be holding hands...I think they might believe this to be more of a haunted house than a funhouse.

Oh no...don't be afraid, you're just looking at the Halloween art quilts on the walls. Handstitched felt goodies are all over this funhouse. Have fun girls!

While Anne and Bridget continue to look around, let's see who else has arrived to the party.

Ooh...two new arrivals at the same time. Here is Celeste coming in right before sweet Diana Barry. Look at these lovely Kindred Cuties! They look so precious! The dark and mysterious as always, Miss Celeste. Celeste looks to be costumed as a dark angel. What a perfect fit for such a spiritual being! Love the black wings too!

And here we have Ms. Diana Barry, Anne's best friend and dearest kindred spirit of all. How exciting to see her looking gorgeous in her Halloween costume. Diana and Anne seem to have a little secret costume agreement. Both seem to be wearing Fairy wings, but no green hair for Diana. Diana looks fairylicious with her blue lipstick. I surely see a trend ladies...I repeat, I see a trend. Let's leave Celeste and Diana to get their tickets from Freddie. In the meantime...what have Anne and Bridget been up too?

They just met up with the creator of all these handstitched felt goodies. After hesitating for a really long while, Anne and Bridget pushed themselves into the room of crafts. There were paintings, dolls and many more art quilts all over the room. Anne couldn't concentrate on what was going on. The creator was teaching Anne and Bridget how to stitch up ornies as their party favors. The creator had many halloween style ornies to choose from. Bridget couldn't make up her mind one bit. She wanted them all. "I'll show you how to handstitch one, then you can try it for yourself again later." The creator said as she pulled a tree holding an ornie selection away from Bridget.

"Okay, here we go...I like to draw out a simple design onto regular paper and cut out the design from the paper when I'm done. I use this paper as a template to transfer my design to the felt. Since I've done this for many years, I can eyeball the exact measurements of what I want. It all depends on you. Your style, your own ideas. I just try to help you with the process of creating them. Any questions?"

"Yah...I have a question!" Anne asked in a matter of fact kind of way.

"Sure dear, what is your question?"

"I was wondering...out of all the people that will be attending your party here at the Spooky Funhouse, how many times will you be teaching this same instruction? You don't have to answer my weird question, I was just curious and thinking about how terrible it will be to teach the same class over and over again in one day."

"I actually don't think it is a weird question at all, Anne. You are a very sweet girl for thinking of me. I am very honored to help anyone who needs my help. Just to ease your curiosity...I do have printed instructions available for all to use. Everyone is welcome to use it and my help is here if you need me. For now, you can read the step by step instructions on the board in front of you. Feel free to ask away with any questions you may have. There are no weird questions in my book here. Before you leave the Spooky Funhouse, I will give you more info about the instruction print out....Have fun ladies!" she said as she tried to stop a big smile from coming out. The creator slowly walked back to her stitching desk.

Anne and Bridget were thrilled when they finished their felt ornies. They left the room of crafts with a new skill at hand. They were told to leave their ornies so they could continue the Spooky funhouse without worry. Anne and Bridget quickly left to see what other wonders awaited.

As for Celeste and Diana, they were in for their own treats. They happened to walk a different path in the funhouse. The halls were very dark and the only light bright enough to see anything was straight ahead. Diana held onto Celeste's arm like she might faint. Celeste was not afraid of anything. She didn't mind the darkness and she didn't mind not knowing what was straight ahead. She just wanted to see.

The light up ahead ended up being the one lit torch against the wall. The thing next to the light is what scared them. "What is that!" Diana screamed. Celeste being the calm one with fearless attitude touched the thing on the wall. "It's just an art quilt. My mom makes them all the time. She always tries to get me to make them with her. I never have the time..."she went on "Diana, do you have to scream like that in here of all places?" Diana just nodded her head no and tried her very best to keep quiet. She knew it wouldn't last very long. They found another art quilt soon after and Diana screamed again.

After Diana's repeat screamathon, she and Celeste happen upon the room of crafts. Around this same time, a new party guest had just arrived.

It's Emma, dressed like an angel. She looks magical and has a magnificent aura about her. She surely looks as shy as she always does though. C'mon sweetie...give us a little smile...just a little one...maybe later then. She is too adorable!

I can't wait to see all the other fabulous costumes that grace our little spooky funhouse, but it will have to be continued onto a later post. I think I've made this Halloween post as fun and as long as I should. I hope you stay tuned for more of this tale of Kindred Cuties at the Spooky Funhouse.

Wishful Thinking

Hello everyone! It has been awhile since my last post. I hope all is well in your creative worlds. Thanks again so much for all the special comments you've given me. I really appreciate each and every encouragement and sweet support. It means so much.

I've been asked a few times from some of you creative lovelies if I've ever been published...the answer to that unfortunately is no, not yet. :) I myself rarely get the opportunity to pick up the latest art magazine. Somerset Studio is a sure favorite and always at the top of the list when it comes down to actually buying one. I enjoy all of their issues as well as their sister magazines. It's always so much fun to ooh and aah while drinking a cup of coffee...okay maybe more than one cup.

After putting it off for so long, and also for recently being asked about being published, last month I decided to pick up the Sept/Oct issue of Somerset Studio The Art of Paper and Mixed Media. There were so many great and talented artists oozing with creativity throughout. I found the submission themes they have in the magazine and gave a quick look to see what the upcoming themes they were requesting. I was so excited to see that it was an Alice in Wonderland Theme for the March/April 2010 issue. The fact that I've had Alice on the brain since the collaboration I did with the hubby, this theme just popped out. I couldn't resist.

So the above picture peek is one of the submissions I sent in to Somerset. It would be an honor to be in their magazine. I'll be crossing my creative fingers and toes. :)

Sweet Bay Area Artist Gloria of http://glorv1.blogspot.com/ recently gave me the "The Deborah Award". Gloria has a fabulous blog where she shares her world of creativity through art, life, gardening and of course her yummy photos of cooking. It's always a treat to visit her. Thanks again so much Gloria! I just love the meaning of this award.

Double-Sided ACEO's

Hello everyone! Hope you are all having a great October so far! As you may already know, I love Halloween and all the tricks and treats to see. Can't wait to visit all of your Halloween inspired spookfabulous blogs!

The following are ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) I created and sold in 2007. ACEO's are 2.5" X 3.5". These ACEO's were all double-sided cards created using acrylics, collage paper, digital works, as well as new & vintage images. I added my own blessing & spells to the backs of the first three cards.

Spell to Life's Happiness:

Troubles be gone,
Worries move on,
Receive my call,
To all good witches,
Mend my troubles,
With your charmed stitches,
Blessed be thee,
Remove strife and stress,
Heed my call now,
For my life's happiness!

Blessing of Inspiration:

When inspiration
has passed you by,
May it return
with this one sigh,
Creative efforts
from now & then,
Mind & Soul
shall soar again.

Spell for Heart's Desire:

All Good Witches,
Hear my Call,
Grant my Yearning,
Most of All,
To Need, To Want,
To Have what's Mine,
Barriers Free,

A Treasured Fitting,
Longed to Acquire,
Bestow my Bidding,
My Heart's Desire.

Love Potion #9 is a special elixer made to override the lusting temptations & errors of Love Potion #8, inevitably when used, Love Potion #9 prevents love from ever fading away.

I added baby Tabitha's face from Bewitched to this card. I love that show. The Love Potion #9 movie with Sandra Bullock is also a favorite.

This is the ACEO art quilt I created using the double-sided altered images. Completely hand stitched using embroidery thread & beads.

Since creating the blessing & spells in 2007, I've already incorporated them in a few altered stitched and painted pieces. I really enjoy thinking up new blessings & spells for fun. I hope to create more for this Halloween season.
