Art Journal Entry

Here is my latest art journal entry I created yesterday.

It's very easy to get lost in the moment when I play this way.

Listening to music on my ipod and just getting in a zone. My own little creative zone. It's very relaxing and so much fun.

I hope this inspires you to get into your own little creative zone too. Have fun!

I also created another link badge option from this. You are welcome to post it on your blog if you like.

Thanks again so much for all the wonderful support in my art!

Hugs,
Lisa :)

Two Fabulous Halloween Parties to attend!

The first party is hosted by Zinnia of Zinnias Art and it's venue will be at Roses On My Table, which is the art journal group I belong to. There is plenty to see and do on the special day including free classes, games & giveaways! You don't want to miss out!

The second party is hosted by Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist. I remember missing out on Vanessa's spooktacular party last year. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss out again. Her creative imagination is one of a kind. She just shines with contagious inspiration.

Hope to see you all at both of these fabulous Halloween parties!

Hugs,
Lisa :)

A Visit to the King Tut Exhibit

Last week we got the chance to go to the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park San Francisco. It was a bright and sunny day. Just perfect to sit in the park and visit the King Tut Exhibit. We took my sweet mother-in-law who was also looking forward to seeing the exhibit as much as we were. I love going to museums and feeding off all the art history that surrounds you.

I've always been fascinated with Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharoahs. Any movies especially inspired with this era is a must see for me. I enjoy anything with ancient Egyptian culture including pyramids, artifacts & of course mummies.

Here are some photos of the front & across view of the de Young Museum & The California Academy of Sciences.

Our visit to the King Tut exhibit was wonderful. The set up was dark and very easy to tour. It really showed you how they lived and how they were represented in death back in ancient Egypt. The whole exhibit was heavily guarded. I wish I could have taken photos of the wonders I saw. We purchased the extra audio tour and I swear, each time I put it to my ear, an exhibit guard would double check quickly to see what it was. They mean business, no photography allowed. It didn't bother me much. The unbelievable craftsmanship everywhere was breathetaking. I was in absolute awe throughout the tour.

We also tried this fun cartouche. The paper states "A cartouche (pronounced kar-toosh) is a hieroglyphic nameplate or seal. Every ancient Egyptian pharaoh, king, and queen had a cartouche which spelled out their name..."

(Please excuse the photo quality) We chose to print out our last name even though the meaning of the hieroglyphs represent sounds not letters. So basically it's not really Lectura, but was fun to create just the same.

For those of you living in the Bay Area of San Francisco or coming for a visit, the King Tut exhibit will be there until March 28, 2010. For a cheaper price and still a great experience, they also offer "Tut at Twilight". Visit the de Young Museum site here for more info.

I've also been tagged by Michelle of http://thesillystamper.blogspot.com/. Michelle is a talented artist with a very inspiring blog. She makes adorable cards and goodies. Thanks so much for thinking of me! Please check out Michelle's lovely site when you get a chance.

And lastly, I wanted to share another work in progess. If you're like me, you work on multiple projects at one time. The reasons may vary. You can be patiently waiting for a painting to dry, maybe coming back later to finish a piece when you are more inspired, working on a series, a commission piece deadline, a new group challenge, thinking up another idea you MUST do now, or just trying to keep on top of your creative to do list. Many possible reasons, but all very true for me. Here is a photo of my quiltie in progress.

Thanks for coming to visit and reading about our visit to the King Tut Exhibit! I was surely inspired with all the amazing artistry they shared. Hopefully I can create something special from the inspiration of our King Tut visit, maybe even another collaboration! Oh no, another one on the list!

Hugs,
Lisa :)

Something old and Something new

Hello everyone! Here is my something old, well I should say older. I created this art quilt in 2007. I was reorganizing my workspace after a project and decided to redecorate at the same time. This quiltie just needed another visual spot to inspire me. I hope it inspires you too.

It's an art quilt done in a crazy quilt style. The Victorian era is one of my favorites.

And here is my something new. I decided to paint another Alice in Wonderland inspired piece. Especially, since my last Alice was very naughty. It's still a work in progress.

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments on our collaboration!

Peace

Hello everyone! I'm back! Please excuse my overdue blogging presence. I've missed blog hopping and reading up on all your fun and interesting posts. Besides everyday life, I have been creatively busy as much as possible. The hubby and I are working on our second collaborative painting. I hope to share it really soon. I can't wait for it to be finished!

Marc and I have varying styles in art at times and it's really fun to see what we come up with together. It's such a treat to think outside of the box as much as our creative minds can imagine.

So Keep Watch, it's spooky cute and coming very soon to a blog near you!

Here is my latest quiltie. It's a mini art quilt ACEO (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) The size is 2.5" X 3.5". I'll be listing this quiltie on Ebay late Friday.

This is an original angel painting on fabric.

Completely handstitched & created using glitter, acrylic paints, charms, fibers, beads, & sequins.

ACEO's are so much fun to create and collect. You can find so many talented artists on ebay and etsy by typing in the acronym. Have fun collecting, it can be addictive.

Thanks for coming to visit! Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Lisa :)
