Return of the ACEO
I began selling my art in ACEO (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) format a couple of years ago on ebay. ACEO's are the standard size of trading cards which are 2.5" X 3.5". These small works of art are highly collectible in the art world. All you have to do is type in the acronym and find thousands of artists currently selling these tiny treasures. From drawings, to paintings, mixed media, altered art, fabric collages, the list goes on and on.
I just recently created these two fantasy ACEO's. I forgot how fun & relaxing it could be to work on such a smaller scale. I started out with a pencil sketch on 140 lb watercolor paper. I then used ink, watercolor, metallic, & acrylic paints. The metallic paints create a soft shimmer that is not visible in the scanning process. It does look very magical in person.

I witnessed a beautiful sunset the other day. It inspired me to created this angel painting named "Mother Earth".
Her halo glows like the setting sun. Lying down on the blossoming grass makes her body look like rolling hills from afar. Her long dark blue hair flowing like a gentle river.
Created using ink, pastels, collage paper, metallic, & acrylic paints.

Art in Bloom
My first creation for the Prim & Whimsy Group Challenge is an altered art tree collage. When I found out what the theme would be, I instantly thought of incorporating my earlier creations in some way. Since I started painting & selling my art, the many faces I've created from the beginning have somewhat evolved through the years from what you see now. I used 19 face variations for this "Art in Bloom" piece.
11" X 14" on stretched canvas
It was created using ink, pastels, acrylic paints, collage papers, & altered prints. For those of you who don't know, I love to stitch and I decided to also incorporate that into this piece as well. Using nylon thread & embroidery floss, I hand-stitched down beads, buttons, fabric leaves, & embroidered french knots for the center of the flower sequins. It was also sanded & distressed for a prim appearance. A matte finished was used for protection.
My second piece for this challenge is of course another one of my Frida's. I really enjoy creating my renditions of her. Here I painted her as the center of a flower.
10" X 10" on stretched canvas
Created using ink, pastels, metallic, & acrylic paints. Textured, sanded, & distressed. A matte finished was used for protection.
